Do I have to Re-Root my Android Smartphone After Installing Custom ROM?

Do I have to Re-Root my Android Smartphone After Installing Custom ROM?

The answer is no, most custom ROMs, 99% of them, come with root and a Superuser app like Superuser or SuperSU installed.

Some of newer Jelly Bean ROMs may require you to install root separately but most custom ROMs in general come rooted.

Why would ROM developers want you to root your phone again?

Exactly, sometimes you can use common sense but for those of you who didn’t know, I hope this helps and you can flash all the custom ROMs you want, most of them come with root yes.

After installing Custom ROM, I LOST DATA, 3G and 4G not working!!!

After installing Custom ROM, I LOST DATA, 3G and 4G not working!!!

If you lost data, 3G, or 4G after installing custom ROM, it’s most likely due to APN settings.

Many carriers automatically set the APN settings for you when you install a custom ROM but sometimes this may not happen.

To fix, you simply need to Google your APN settings and input it in your Android smartphone.

For example, AT&T APN settings are:

Name: AT&T APN: wap.cingular Username:WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM Password:CINGULAR1 MMSC: http://mmsc.cingular.com MMS Proxy: wireless.cingular.com

Missing Play Store, GMail, and Other Google Apps after Installing Custom ICS/Jelly Bean ROM! [GAPPS]

If you are missing Play Store, GMail, and other Google Apps after installing a custom ICS/Jelly Bean ROM such as CM9, CM10, and AOKP, it’s because these ROMs require you to install Google Apps separately.

Why?

When CyanogenMod ROM first came out with Nexus One, Google asked CyanogenMod team to not include Google Apps in their ROMs and sent a “cease and desist” letter.

Because of this, since September 2009, many CM9/CM10/AOKP custom ROMs have the

Bad Reception on GSM Galaxy Nexus?

Bad Reception on GSM Galaxy Nexus?

For bad reception on your GSM Galaxy Nexus, you can fix easily by flashing different radios.

For example, I bought my GSM Galaxy Nexus from Europe which contained European radio. Due to that, I was getting very bad reception here in San Francisco, California. By swapping out my radio to a North American version, my reception problems disappeared where my data would disconnect at random times during the day.

I have these radios you can use for GSM Galaxy Nexus:

What is a Bootloop, Soft-brick, or Hard-brick?

How Does SafeMode Toggle Work for SafeStrap Recovery on Motorola Android Devices?

How Does SafeMode Toggle Work for SafeStrap Recovery on Motorola Android Devices?

Basically toggling “safemode toggle” on SafeStrap Recovery saves your current stock ROM. However only use this feature “right before” installing a new ROM as if you enable the safemode and do not install a new ROM you will end up in a bootloop.

To recover from bootloops and soft-bricks, you can disable safemode toggle to get your original stock ROM back.

Also, you can use backup and restore feature on the SafeStrap recovery to backup/restore any ROMs.

Installed i9100 ROM on AT&T Galaxy S2 SGH-i777?

Hi Max, I rooted my Samsung galaxy S2 from AT&T from your videos about 3 months ago& installed ShoStock Rom. It said it was for the I9100 & it worked well. It was getting a little out of date so I downloaded and installed Resurrection Remix ICS ROM v2.4.1 for Galaxy S2 i9100! Big mistake!! It never would work right so I found out it wasn't for the SCG I777.. I installed Rom Manager & was going to install it again before I realized it wasn't the right one. I tried to flash it from inside Rom Manager App instead of doing in manually. It brings up the splash screen & then the screen s
