Can you Unlock SIM on my Android Smartphone by Rooting?

A lot of people get “unlocking” confused with “rooting”.

First of all, “rooting” an Android smartphone device means you get full control (admin access) over your phone’s operating system.

However, “unlocking” is different, that is for unlocking SIM locks, which many carriers such as AT&T or T-Mobile put on their phones so customers need a special unlock code if they want to use it on another carrier.

You can usually get unlock code to unlock the SIM on your phone by using one of the SIM unlocking sites on the web.(such as www.cellunlocker.net)

Also, if you have multiple accounts with your carrier, sometimes they may give you the SIM unlock code if you tell them you are leaving the country for few months and you want to be able to use SIM card from another country.

You can also use SIM unlocking tools like Z3X box to unlock your phone but these are tools for the professionals not the average user.

There are sometimes ways to unlock SIM with rooted smartphones but that’s not always the case so please don’t get “unlocking” confused with “rooting”, two totally different things. One gives you total admin access, the other unlocks SIM so you can use any SIM cards.
